Self Harm Training

Self-harm is a very common problem and because it is difficult to understand many people struggle with how to deal with it and how to help those who self-harm. This one day training is designed to enable participants to gain the practical skills, knowledge, awareness and confidence to understand and support those who self-harm.


Issues covered include:

·        Myths and discriminatory attitudes

·        Awareness of the assessment and management of risk with people who self-harm

·        Why people who self-harm find it difficult to change their behaviour

·        Sustaining a positive relationship with people who self-harm

·        Appropriate support and supervision

·        Practical skills


This course will be of particular interest to:

Those working with or who may come into contact with those who self-harm, for example, nurses, social workers, care and support staff, teachers, youth workers, family and friends.



Please note there will be no food provided on the day and participants will be expected to make their own arrangements.
