HSBC Belfast works in partnership with PIPS Hope & Support with several staff members volunteering with the charity. The branch recently contributed funds towards the cost of refurbishing the charity's new Protect Life Resource Centre in Newry.

Seamus McCabe, CEO, PIPS Hope & Support said: "Mental & emotional ill-health and suicide can affect anyone of any age at any time and we are committed to supporting the community to tackle this issue. We offer a range of services including counselling and training to individuals and organisations on how to support those at risk of taking their own life. We are extremely pleased HSBC Belfast are providing us with much needed funds to furnish and refurbish our resource centre in Newry, because of HSBC Banks support, the charity can offer an environment that is safe, spacious, private and one that provides comfortable and confidential settings.

Ciaran Ward, Service & Sales Manager at HSBC Belfast, said: "We are proud to support PIPS Hope & Support with fundraising activity and through volunteering. Staff received  safeTALK training from the charity that was both insightful and practical and we now feel more confident that we could identify an at-risk individual using our services in branch, and that we would be able to offer the first stage of support."
